First of all, you need a friend (but that’s true for everything in life, isn’t it?). A special friend.
I’ll tell you this little story and you will understand.
She has a beautiful studio in Milano, where she shows and sells her production. One day we were talking about family and legacy etc., and she told me to bring her the family jewels that I wasn’t wearing. She was sure she could revamp o rebuild them and give them a new life.
So I went with my little possessions, among which there were some little gold medals, the kind grandparents and aunts used to give children when they were Christened or received their first Communion. And among the medals there two almost identical. “It never occurred to me, two identical medals” said my friend. The dates engraved were different but close, so they must have been my sister’s and mine.
And I didn’t even know I had them!
And then my friend said: “We’ll make a pair of earrings out of them”. I would never had thought of that! But I had immediately the feeling that they would have come out perfect.
And they are perfect. I have been wearing them a lot. They are easy and simple and cool and original. And they make me think of my beloved aunt and grandparents…
