Which means we had lunch after two’o clock… But we had a wonderful morning, so full of art as to be satisfied till the end of the year!
First if all it was Balthus: he’s a painter I was familiar with especially through the French writers like Antonine Artaud, George Bataille and Michel Leyris. In my twenties they were considered a must read and a very intellectual and intelligent sort of reading.
Balthus as a painter has been a great discovery. I loved most of its painting: loved the technique, the comors, the composition, the mood, the feelings. I am still carrying the marvel with me!
Then we went to see the exhibition of The Phillips collection: some beautiful inpressionist paintings, collected with understandin and love by Duncan Phillips, a rich but generous guy from Washington D. C.
How am I dressed? More or less like yesterday or in a back to basic way: grey T-shirt, blue sweater, blue jeans, Blundstones.
Have a nice day!
