Yes, I know, this is a #selfieinthekitchen and it is my Milano kitchen and I am not fooling you.

Just wait a second and let me tell you the story, ok?

I was in Pasadena and I was staying at my friend’s Sue. She is actually a long term friend of my sister, but I have got to know her and I like her and I went to visit her even if my sister wasn’t with me. She works for JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory) and she had recently join the JPL Academy, where every Wednesday a somptuos dinner is being held in one of the somptuos halls of the building. She wanted to take me there, and I was more than happy to go… but helas, there is a dress code! No sandals, no shorts, no jeans. Exactly the only kind of clothes I was carrying with me!

So what is a fashion blogger and chic lady to do?

She goes shopping!

I had great hopes for some vintage shops I went visiting in La Brea, but then they appeared to have only high design clothes and quite overpriced. I spotted an interesting shop, Steven Alan, where I found the blue dress you can see in the picture. Simple, pleasant, perfect!

Then I needed shoes. I had noticed a pair of flats in a J.Crew store in Pasadena, so I went there and bought them: I had a moment of indecision between burgundy and grey, but then I opted for the grey. Burgundy is a color I love but never found a way to wear…

Instead of the soprabito (Antonio Fusco) I am wearing today, I had a scarf. Remember what I wrote, in my blog on Giorni Moderni, about the importance of having a couple of scarves in the holiday suitcase? Well, I had a scarf that matched the dress!

And believe me, the dinner was somptuous and delicious!

Have a nice day!
