Chic After Fifty

Are you surprised? Are you happy?

Because here we are: the first #selfieinthekitchen in the new flat! I have finally taken possession of it. It’s been tough but I made it, and this is what is important. I will forget all the efforts and the fits of anger and the nuisances and I will enjoy my pretty little home.

It’s still a mess, as I am sure you can detect from the picture, but it doesn’t matter. It is home sweet home!

I have taken this selfie while I was waiting for the plumber to come and fix the heating (which he did, thank God). I am wearing the little black coat (bought at the market in Ancona) with a pair of grey pants (Whipcord) and some old Dr Martens boots. A sporty comfy easy outfit, to be ready to jump in and out of the flat and of the car. Still #chic and #chicafter50, though.

And I think this is the real challenge: to keep a certain style, a chic allure even when you have a crazy amount of things to do, you don’t have your wardrobe ready for you, nor the time to choose and try things on. I mean, it’s easy to be very elegant when you have all the time in the world to decide what to wear! But age helps: when you reach fifty, your ability to keep your style under stress is at its peak!
