Chic After Fifty

Last saturday I was in Livorno and it was a bright and beautiful day. I had some things to do but I had also some free time, so I was strolling in the city center with a friend of mine, when we notice a milliner shop. I don’t know about where you live, but in Italy milliner shops are very rare. I think the ones that have been able to survive must be great masters of their craft… certainly so is Rinaldelli, in Livorno.

We enter the shop with the purpose of buying a hat for my friend’s partner, and we came out with that, and a hat each for ourselves! The yellow straw “coppola” is a unique piece, an experiment they told me… what a lovely experiment!

I happened to have this yellow cotton sweater (by Zara) and my gold/yellow “soprabito”… how could I have left that jewel of a hat in the store? Do I start to sound like Becky of I love shopping? Well, don’t we all have a bit of Becky inside us?

I was also wearing a pair of linen white trousers (Stefanel), a white shirt with a stand-up collar (Benetton)… and it’s a pity you can’t see how perfectly the Birkenstock completed the outfit!

COME INDOSSARE UNA COPPOLA DI PAGLIA GIALLA. A LIVORNO

Sabato scorso ero a Livorno ed era una giornata bellissima e luminosa. Avevo parecchie cose da fare ma avevo anche un po’ di tempo libero, e passeggiavo con una mia amica per il centro della città quando ho notato un negozio di modista. Ora non so dove abitate voi, ma certo qui in Italia i negozi di modista sono una rarità. Quei pochi che sono sopravvissuti devono essere stati capaci di far diventare un’arte la loro maestria… e questo è certamente il caso di Rinaldelli!

Io e la mia amica siamo entrate con l’intenzione di prendere un cappello per il suo compagno, e ne siamo uscite con quello, e in più, un cappello a testa! La coppola gialla, quella che ho scelto io, era appoggiata su un bancone, solitaria, perché era un esperimento… ma che bell’esperimento!

Guarda caso, proprio quel giorno avevo indosso il pulloverino becco d’oca (preso da Zara), e anche se non si vede nella foto avevo anche il soprabito giallo/oro… come potevo lasciare quel cappello nel negozio? Comincio a sembrarvi Becky di I love shopping? Ma in fondo non c’è un po’ di Becky in tutte noi?

Avevo indosso anche dei pantaloni di lino bianchi (Stefanel) e una camicia bianca con il collo a listino (Benetton)… e mi dispiace che non possiate vedere come ci stavano bene i Birkenstock!
